Mandate:
• Development of early to medium maturity normal hybrids
• To screen maize germplasm against Erwinia Stalk Rot (ESR) and Banded leaf and sheath blight (BLSB) under artificial epiphytotic conditions

Significant achievements
• Associated in the evaluation and release of early maturing single cross maize hybrid Palam Sankar Makka-1 and medium maturing hybrid Palam Sankar Makka-2 released by CVRC for Zone –V and Zone-I, respectively
• Associated in the evaluation and release of specialty corn varieties, viz, Bajaura Pop corn, Bajaura sweet corn and baby corn VL-78
• Associated in the evaluation and release of composites Girija and Bajaura Makka
• Two public bred single cross hybrids viz, Vivek-21 and HQPM-1 were identified for cultivation in the State
• Private bred maize hybrid PMZ-4 was identified for cultivation in the State,
• Developed 40 early and medium maturing inbreds
• Medium maturing hybrid viz., KMH-16-29 and early maturing hybrid KMH-17-89 are at final stage of testing in AICRP trials
